  1. should have bought from the beginning

I have the STX, paid full retail for it and love it, 11bb and corrosion resistant with an aluminum body. This reel, the Black Max, is lighter, made of graphite, not corrosion resistant, but I cannot tell the difference between the amount of bearings. Only thing I can see is that the reel seat seems a bit flimsy, compared to aluminum. But, I do not plan landing a 100 lb. fish with this either (would be great!) So, I should have bought four or five of these, and had them all spooled up differently and ready to go. The other difference between the two reels, the STX is made in Korea, this one is made in China. Great reel, great price.

  2. New to Baitcasters

I haven’t used a baitcaster since I was a kid, and I’m 58. They were way more rudimentary then. I’ve recently taken up fishing again. My reel of choice has been, for a long time, a spincaster, although I use spinning reels some as well. On an impulse I bought this reel to see if I’d like it. I definitely do like it. It’s smooth, it casts well, and the braking on these things serves the beginner well. It didn’t take long to figure the braking out, and my casts are bird’s nest-free. I’m REEL happy. And if you feel the need to groan I understand.
